HAAKS®B.A.R.F Sardine oil

Omega-3 fatty acids

The right Omega-3 fish oil? That is quite difficult, there is so much on offer on the market, but what is good and what is less good, to bad?

We are going to try to explain it all a bit.

The first step has already been taken because it is generally known that Omega fatty acids are good for dogs and cats. It supports their general condition, their skin and coat will be healthier and visibly more beautiful. It also ensures easier movement in case of movement problems, sometimes it can cause less pain due to better condition of the musculoskeletal system. Fatty acids are also very important for a well-functioning brain, clarity of the mind ensures peace and balance.

We recommend that you only give Omega-3 fish oil. Preferably a few times a week, we think 3-4 times a week, why?

Omega-6 and -9 are already sufficiently present in the daily food, so the body receives enough. But here it is also about balance, which is why omega 3 is so important. Omega 6 has the property of being anti-inflammatory and Omega-3 is anti-inflammatory, so a balance in these 2 is actually essential for good health. Does your dog or cat eat a fatty fish 3 times a week, absolutely great. If this is not the case, make sure you get fish oil.

What determines the quality of the fish oil?

A high concentration of EPA and DHA and a good origin! That is, from wild-caught fish that come from deep clean waters. The deeper the colder and the more EPA / DHA in the fish.

What does EPA do and what does DHA do?

EPA has a:

very positive effect on coat and skin. It has an anti-inflammatory effect and supports skin and coat against dryness, dull hair, flakes and itchy red skin.

Beneficial effect in allergies.

Anti-inflammatory effect. This therefore helps with skin infections, dental problems, movement problems such as osteoarthritis, arthritis, spondylosis, etc.

Protective effect in kidney disease, epilepsy, heart disease and cancer.

DHA has a beneficial effect on the brain and is therefore particularly important in pregnant, young and old animals.
